Learning not to catastrophise

As a person who used to catastrophise, and still does to some extent, I understand the times when we see life as bad rather than having a bad day. I have learnt that everyone has bad moments, hours, days where they feel life is not what they signed up for. Our ability to recognise that this is all it is, a bad space that we can walk away from and feel better, can be life changing.

We all have those times, but it is the ability to recognise that they are just temporary that matters. It is not a bad life or a bad person, it is a bad moment and bad behaviour.

The next time you feel yourself going down the rabbit hole of catastrophising, remember to breathe, externalise your feelings and change your language from "always" and "never" to "sometimes" and "in this moment". This will help to register the temporary nature of what you are feeling.

If catastrophising thoughts are impacting on your life, then get in touch for some expert help.
